Curriculum

The school curriculum is everything that a student learns in school. The core curriculum is at the heart of a child’s study but is only part of the learning.

At Paget we believe that all students should follow a broad, relevant and balanced curriculum designed to inspire and challenge our students as well as develop those skills and qualities that they will need to take them on to the next stage of their lives. The school is committed to developing all students’ abilities to be effective learners and we therefore systematically teach our students about the process of learning with the aim of giving them the confidence to tackle any learning challenge - in school and in their wider life. We are a Growth Mindset school, we believe that students’ ability is not fixed and that with hard work and determination, all students can achieve and aspire to be more.

Our curriculum enables all our students to study subjects from the academic core, as well as subjects from Art, Design and Technology, Business and Computing and the Performing Arts.

Detailed information regarding our curriculum can be found in our Curriculum Statement.

Key Stage 3
Our provision follows a three year programme at KS3 and delivers the National Curriculum. Students follow a PSE programme for one period per week. This programme allows students to develop their learning and thinking skills, participate in Personal, Social and Health Education, and experience Citizenship lessons with an emphasis on British Values.

Key Stage 4
Our provision at KS4 follows a two year programme with students following a set of core courses all leading to a GCSE qualification. The core is supported by a range of optional subjects and includes both GCSE and vocational courses. Within the combination of subjects available, students study at least one EBacc subject, unless deemed inappropriate. PSE delivery continues for one lesson per week at KS4 and continues to develop learning and thinking skills, participate in Personal, Social and Health Education, and experience Citizenship lessons with an emphasis on British Values.

The Sixth Form – Year 12 & 13
The school offers a range of level 3 subjects at A level and BTEC/Cambridge Technicals. This currently includes the additional provision of the Extended Project Qualification. We also offer level 2 subjects in GCSE Maths and English and vocational full time. Level 3 subjects receive up to 5 lessons per week.
